I love them so much because they’re about as sharp as a baseball and their anatomy is ridiculous to the point of them literally being classified as plankton for years because they just sort of get blown around by the ocean and look confused, but because they lay more eggs than ANY OTHER VERTEBRATE IN EXISTENCE, evolution can’t stop them
Why is no big predator coming and gnawing on them?
Their biggest defense is that they’re massive and have super tough skin, but they do get hunted by sharks or sea lions sometimes and they just sort of float there like ‘oh bother’ as it happens
Even funnier, because they eat nothing but jellyfish they’re really low in nutritional value anyway, so they basically survive by being not worth eating because they’re like a big floating rice cracker wrapped in leather.
So basically the only reason natural selection hasn’t taken care if them is because they are the most useless fish
yes, they’ve perfected uselessness to the point of being unstoppable
They cough up one petal at a time until the last petal that’s still on the stem comes up. (They love me; they love me not.)
There is only one actual bloom in their lungs so they’re fine with just petals, but when the bloom comes up that’s the end.
What flowers come up actually depend on what region you’re in, like England cases are predominantly prim roses, Japan cases are usually cherry blossoms, or the American south cases are mostly wysteria.
What kind of flower that grows in the character may determine how long they have. (ex. sunflowers are stupid big; ex. detail: Though this disease is rare, the consequences can quickly become dire the most lethal known case was where the victim died within 24 hours not due to a flower but a vine called kudzu.)
Petals that are so obscured by the blood the sufferer can’t tell what kind of flower is growing in them.
What if it’s not the flowers that kill, but the internal bleeding that comes along with them?
Stems, leaves, and thorns
Pulling up vines like ivy or honeysuckle
Roots
Dandelions: the yellows blooms and the white fluffy stage where it’s just seeds (You ever blow on these to make a wish? Imagine literally being filled with wishes.)
Though the infection/feelings have been removed the love grows back because they fell in love with their person again.
