Another poster I realize I forgot to post online 8V Here’s my Voltron poster. I spent quite some time thumbnailing it and working out what I was going to do; I wanted to make something… Dynamic. So much regret when I’d finished and realized how much work it was actually going to take. I’m happy with the outcome though :> Everyone gets shiny hair today.

Find it here on my Etsy!

Along with a whole load of other stuff on my Etsy!

A Painting Made From Pieces of Glass

image

that’s amazing

i just realized it’s not just pieces of glass

they’re shaped as paper planes

the piece can be complete and aesthetically pleasing even when there is no projection this is so good and it makes me so happy

THIS IS ALSO SCIENCE. SCIENCE ART. THE BEST KIND OF ART.

it kinda annoys me when people post these things and they don’t give credit to the artist. so the artist’s name is Rashad Alakbarov and he’s from Azerbaijan and he’s done several other pieces using shadows :

Reminder that Jon Arbuckle murdered Lyman in cold blood as a means to obtain Odie for his own cruel purposes

Not saying he wouldnt do this but SOURCE?????

Oh, boy, this is a fun bit of trivia.

See this book? This was published in 1998. I got it when I was 8 from my school bus driver for being really helpful on the route map for her first day, so this book has been in my possession for 19+ years. It’s very battered, but all the pages are still there, taped together, because the binding glue didn’t react well to the environment I lived in at the time.

Page 32 has a special “Bonus” spot for Lyman, with “updated” (for 1998) profile art

Closer look at the page

JON, WHAT DID YOU DO?

Oh, and also, if you know your Garfield Lore, then Lyman was Jon’s roommate until 1983, then left for an unknown reason, leaving Odie behind. He did appear in a Logo Box for Garfield’s 10th Birthday strip in 1988, as a cameo, but for the most part, Lyman has been absent for so long, they have continually rewritten how exactly Jon obtained Odie, ranging from adopting him from the same shop as Garfield, to adopting Odie a couple years into owning Garfield.

Except for

The popular 90s Garfield flash game, “Garfield’s Spooky Scavenger Hunt”, in which you can find Lyman chained up in a basement as a hidden eastern egg. He begs Garfield to give him some muffins to eat, then disappears after you leave the room and come back.

Garfield Lore is pretty messed up when you dig around.

….. what the hell

I did a couple of passes for this same shot. This one is a very short yet hard shot for me to do.

My 1st pass is a very old take, and the early design of the character didn’t really have a focused direction – so it needed to be redone for sure. I realize he’s probably doing a bit too much for this scene; it being borderline over-acted.

The 2nd pass was definitely a lot more controlled, but I felt it lacked the intensity from the 1st pass. It was not dynamic enough, and the character felt like he wasn’t emotionally in the scene. It felt like he was just gliding to the poses, so it didn’t really have enough character to it. (Also, it’s evenly timed…)

The 3rd pass, I actually got advice and feedback from my friend Rune – who helped me figure out the poses. Draftsmanship and clear drawing are some of my wain weaknesses, so its always great to have someone else point out what causes the issues. Its pushed, yet more controlled and simplified. The gun leaving the screen as he swings adds a dynamism to the animation. It’s much snappier, for this being part of an action segment; it makes sense. I’ll have to come back and fix the drawing a bit so its a bit closer to the model of the 2nd, but I definitely learned a lot from re doing this shot a bunch.
