its weird being 18, 19, 20 in 2016 because i remember going into kindergarten and seeing those chunky ass giant computers at the desk and then going through school while technology rapidly develops and graduate in a world where people can have the entire internet and more just in their pocket like idk its so strange to me

sorry to add to the post but I remember in 5th grade when they invented the “smart whiteboard” and my school won one for the library and everyone lost their shit because they were so expensive and I graduated high school last year and by the time I graduated every single classroom had one. Watching technology go from glitchy and expensive to powerful and affordable within less than ten years continues to blow my mind

no but also like owning a flip phone was the Coolest Shit™ and you could take photos(???) and it was like so incredible, and it was all fun and games until you pressed the key for THE INTERNET and you knew you’d be charged so you pressed that cancel key eighty times and prayed to god that he’d take mercy on you…and then iphones became a thing and it was like unreal

Going from vcrs and huge roll in tvs to streaming the movie online and projecting that onto the smart board within the span of 5-10 years.

ok but do you guys remember before proper projectors were put in there was the overhead projector that could only read clear plastics and it projected using light and mirrors

Technology

remember when you got your first phone, and it had monoton/polyphone ringtones=? OR THE FIRST TIME YOU COULD ACTUALLY PUT A SONG AS YOUR RINGTONE 1:1 that was such a huge thing…..Also the first phones with coloured displays, 100x100px photos……god what a time….

I remember before iPods became a thing and I was in like 5th grade and I got a Walkman CD player (because regular CD players would skip and shit if you moved them too much and walkmans were like A+ technology that you could listen to CDs on the go) and I had like the whole case of CDs I’d take with me everywhere. Then iPods became the new norm and everyone’s mind was collectively blown

My great-grandmother went from being the first house in town to have electricity to emailing her cross-national friends in her lifetime.

Here’s a personal project I did recently! I watched a ton of Sailor Moon with my roommates over the summer and I was so charmed by the moments where we got to see all of the senshi’s individual interests and hobbies! I wanted to a series highlighting it ^^

The most stolen piece of artwork on this planet is the vector of Kiba howling from the Wolf’s Rain opening and it actually drives me insane.

For reference this is the still from the opening:

image

This cafe in my town has Kiba as its logo. Was in town today so I grabbed a pic. You are absolutely right.

I see this on so much stuff

Like poor Kiba he has become the generic wolf logo

Did it ever occur to y’all that this might predate a late 90’s anime? Like it’s some sort of natural phenomenon? Like, I dunno, a wolf howling to its pack at night?

Did it
occur to

you they still stole an image from an anime?
Even if it can happen in real life they still stole that image!

Right, so now I’m gonna look it up and see if there are drawings of that (very iconic) pose dating to before Wolf’s Rain.

And, while the pose and backdrop are the exact same, those two images have different tufts of fur, so at the very least, I think someone did a redraw. Does anyone have photoshop to flip the images and compare them better? I’m on mobile

Huh. It genuinely looks like the bottom image is the mirror flip of another image from Wolf’s Rain, but I still don’t feel like bandying accusations.

Wolf’s Rain came out in 2003 and a vector made from tracing a still from the anime was made shortly after by a fan. Since then the image has be taken and reused thousands of times passed off as a stock image for years and it’s such a poular stock image it has ended up as logos for small businesses and such (which says more about the people who ‘designed’ the graphics more then anything lol). But the style of Wolf’s Rain is pretty specific and if you’ve seen the anime you’ll notice the stylistic traits in the vector. The image isn’t some random wolf howling, it’s Kiba, a vector of Kiba. The vector just got thrown around so much over the years it’s better known as a stock image but it’s an obvious trace when you know the source. It’s literally everywhere if you look up ‘wolf howling’ and it just makes me laugh. Wolf’s Rain wasn’t terribly popular compared to other animes released at the time and is much more of a cult classic, so its funny to see Kiba everywhere even when people aren’t aware. I’ve personally seen him on car decals and a logo on a local restaurant and it’s hilarious.

image

The vector is traced from a screenshot thats about 4 frames after the screenshot jackal took. The head and tail are up a little farther, but its definitely the same pic.

I recognize it mostly from the anatomically incorrect back legs all the characters have.

Also I’m not accusing them of anything I just think its funny.
