Inktober Day 15! The promt I used was ‘fox’.
When I was a girl about about 7 or 8, my favourite TV show in the world was an English cartoon called The Animals of Farthing Wood. If that title sounds warm and wholesome, well… The series was beautiful and poignant and tear-jerking, and also very, VERY brutal. The characters were all English woodland animals and many of them die in the most TERRIBLE ways. I won’t scar you with details, but go type ‘Animals of Farthing Wood Deaths’ into YouTube and you’ll find a number of videos with people equally amazed at quite how dark this series was.
All that said, while it would never be greenlit for production or broadcast today, I loved it and I would watch it again with any child of mine, if I ever have one. It’s refreshing to know that there are children’s shows out their that don’t pull punches nor wrap any difficult notion in layers of cotton wool. I think younger-me appreciated that as well.

Every morning we hop a little fence. Esper gets all jazzed about it, like we are doing something bad, so she shoots me this look like “OHHH MAN, we gonna get in soooo much trouble.”
